Details
- Title Page Character(s): Jimmy Sisphar, Malcolm Gedo, Genji Kamogawa, Ippo Makunouchi
Summary
Kamogawa thinks of how Ippo has defeated two national champions in Sisphar and Gedo who had a lot of experience, so there were many people anxious for Ippo to take the next step, but now he is being toyed with by a seventeen year old who barely has any experience. Kamogawa understands what Miguel meant when he deemed Wally as his last sun, knowing how personally important a meeting like that is for a trainer, as someone one can dedicate their whole life to. Kamogawa believes that Wally's unrivalled natural ability, and Miguel's wisdom of observing boxing through the ages is just too much. As Wally hits Ippo, Miguel believes he knows what is going through Kamogawa's head, as he himself went through the same thing with him and his Takamura, who proved to be too much, but now he feels the tables have turned and it will be his boy who shows his skills. Ippo continues to get hit many times, however, he manages to land his goal of six taps to Wally's body while getting hit. Ippo and Kamogawa, however, do not know what to do next. Ippo flies back and almost falls from a punch to his face, but he stays standing. Miguel understands why Ippo is so durable, as he believes that Ippo went into the match with confidence and preparation to take damage, anticipating fighting against someone who uses counters. Miguel thinks that Ippo is constantly bracing himself to be struck, and relaxing his knees to soften the blows, so he endures up above and uses his lower body to lessen the impact. Miguel thinks that it is impressive to keep that up for so long, but he believes that Ippo will fall down on his own soon enough, but anything can happen in boxing, so it wouldn't be wise to let it draw out for much longer. As Wally charges towards Ippo, Kamogawa shouts at Ippo to fight back. Wally guards a right, but the impact sends him flying back to the corner. Ippo dashes towards Wally who is at the corner while Kamogawa and Itagaki are worried because they remember that Wally is dangerous at the corner. Wally escapes the corner as Ippo's attack misses, and then as Ippo turns around to face Wally, he gets hit at the side of his head and the impact makes his head slam against the corner post. Kamogawa prepares to throw the towel.
