Eagle's Curiosity is Round 997 of Jōji Morikawa's Hajime no Ippo manga series.
Details
- Title Page Character(s): Takeshi Sendō, Ippo Makunouchi
Summary
Ippo tells Sendō that if he were Volg, he would have lost since he would have followed through on the first body blow and would get hit by Elliott's left uppercut. Sendō claims that he would do a Smash instead of a body blow and hit Elliott, however, Ippo points out that he would get hit by the right counter instead. Ippo notes how they are fighting on a level him and Sendō can't even comprehend. Sendō thinks that Ippo and him are the type to ignore feints, dive in, and slug it out. Ippo understands now how badly they would lose. Ippo wonders how the match will end, and what will be the factor that breaks the equilibrium. Sendō thinks they will find out by watching the match. Volg and Elliott exchange punches that get blocked and dodged. Volg throws a Hien from below that becomes the White Fang as Volg throws a right from above. Elliott throws a left to counter the White Fang's second hit, however, they both block each other's punches. Eagle thinks that the match keeps getting deeper, and that the best way to look for an advantage would be to start all over again and try to find an opening using their lefts. Eagle has noticed something that piqued his curiosity, and it might be what determines the outcome of the match. Dankichi is surprised that even using a Hien as a diversion didn't help Volg, however, he doesn't think it is over yet, since there is a second swallow in the ring. The third round ends.
