Summary

Ippo believes that Volg could gain the upper hand with his Hien. Sendō doesn't think so, since the Hien didn't seem strong, only annoying. He adds that Volg also used it a lot since he was desperate, and throwing the same technique constantly won't work on the world stage. At Volg's corner, Dankichi praises Volg on his use of the Hien. Volg apologises that he didn't use the Hien from the start, since he wouldn't have gotten hurt as badly if he did. Dankichi believes that it was only as effective as it was because of when he used it, since the shock of sudden resistance added to the Hien's natural tendency to confuse the opponent. Volg confirms that he has his feel for the ring back. At Elliott's corner, Elliott informs his seconds that he has remembered the Hien since Volg used it the entire second round. As the third round begins, Volg feels as if he can see the whole arena now as his perspective has widened. Volg notices that Elliott uses rhythmic boxing at middle range with attacks that are similar to Flicker Jabs which is seen in many Americans' styles. Volg thinks of how Elliott closes in on him a lot most likely due to him having a longer reach than Elliott, which could make him have an advantage if they exchange lefts, planning to mix in regular lefts with his Hien and try to take control. Elliott wonders what he should do against Volg's lefts, deciding to attack. Elliott moves towards Volg.
