Summary

In Itagaki's room at the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium, he is anxious due to the fact that he could lose from just one of Hoshi's punches and that it is a ten round match. While heading to the audience area to cheer for Itagaki, Ippo is stopped by Sendō. Sendō warns him about Hoshi's abilities when facing him as Hoshi will go after Ippo if he defeats Itagaki. While Sendō believes Itagaki has no chance, Ippo is sure that Itagaki would win so he won't have to fight Hoshi. Sendō gives Ippo advice on Hoshi's Seiken anyway just in case, as he is worried about his position in his gym's internal rankings if Hoshi beats Ippo. In the audience, after Kimura mentions how it is said that Hoshi is strong, Takamura doesn't think a rookie can defeat Itagaki, who he deems upper middle class as far as small fries go. Takamura thinks that Hoshi is playing hometown hero, which means he might be lower middle class. As the match is about to begin, Itagaki dashes to the ring to avoid hearing the crowd's jeers toward him, while Hoshi walks to the ring with cheers. After seeing Hoshi's shadow boxing, Takamura deems him a mid-middle class. Ippo and Sendō go to the audience area. Sendō asks Ippo what he thinks Itagaki will do. Ippo believe Itagaki will check things out at the start. Sendō claims that Hoshi will come at him from the start. Itagaki is advised by Shinoda to focus and watch all of Hoshi's movements. As the match is about to start, Itagaki and Hoshi touch gloves.
