Summary
Takamura realises Ippo's loss doesn't change anything since he always been on his own since the start. He thinks it is better this way. Kimura, Aoki, and Itagaki rush to the waiting room to check up Ippo, but he is still with the doctor getting check out. Yagi mentions he has a concussion, but they won't know more until they run some tests in the morning. Yagi blames himself for having Ippo fight a Southpaw in his return match. Shinoda think the pressure of his return match and fixations on the new Dempsey Roll, when he couldn't build up any kind of momentum, the frustration created a vicious cycle. He adds no one could have guessed it would end like that. They all look depressed. Ippo arrives and apologises to everyone. Takamura gets up to leave, and throws a punch at Kamogawa. Itagaki stays with Ippo, as everyone heads out. Ippo tells Takamura to win, and Takamura mentions he not going to let "him" down. Mashiba notes the audience is silent like Ippo died. Fujii mentions that Ippo was a special guy for boxing fans, since he wasn't a natural born fighter like them. He comes across as ordinary (or meek) that made people want to root for him. He was the rare kind of boxer who could inspire those feeling. Sendō and Mashiba note Fujii mentioned "was." Fujii tells them when they are around boxing long enough, they notice when guys make a certain type of exit, like they are saying goodbye. There is a thunderous applause because the crowd thinks they will never see him again, like a funeral. Takamura mentions it is like a funeral. Takamura enters with explosions and loud noises. Lycaon wonders why the crowd is quiet. He is disappointed since he wanted to silence the crowd with his skills. Takamura is disappointed that the audience didn't get behind his opening, but mentions he got to show them the hard way, and who the real star they only need to see and count on. As he head to the centre, Takamura tells Kamogawa that "he's" never coming back here again, and to keep his eyes on only him from now on.
