Summary
While training, Aoki and Kimura realise just how close Ippo is to surpass them, which motivates them to keep on training even harder to obtain the JBC titles as well. Later that night at Takamura's place, Aoki leaves when teased by Takamura, and he is followed by Kimura. After they leave, the pair begin talking about their future, as Takamura explains to Ippo that after four years, a missed opportunity would mean another year of waiting for a title bout. He tells Ippo that encouraging them at that point will not be enough to help them. The next day at the gym, Ippo, wanting to do something other than encouraging the duo, spars with them for more than eight rounds while mimicking their upcoming opponents fighting style. He takes beatings repeatedly until it is time for roadwork. As Aoki and Kimura run, they note how that night they will be able to sleep right for the first time in a while.
