Summary

While Aoki and Kimura are impressed with Takamura's mitt hitting, Shinoda believes Kamogawa, who is catching his punches is the impressive one due to his old age, but figures that that is why he is skilled. Ippo agrees with Shinoda how divine Kamogawa's skills are, wondering if he too can become like that with time. Ippo also notices how Takamura did not join in when Kimura and Shinoda were fooling around. Aoki and Kimura reveals to Ippo that Takamura is going to challenge the WBC super middleweight title. With Ippo excited to hear the news, Yagi adds that the title match will take place in Japan, as Takamura demanded it, which will make it the first time in history that a super middleweight title match will take place in Japan. Yagi hands Ippo the profile of the champion, which is in English. With the help of Itagaki, Ippo manages to translate it in Japanese for the gym members that the champion's name is Keith Dragon, along with his boxing information. When Ippo comes across "Heaven's Cannon" and "Ground Cannon", he becomes confused. Yagi suggests for him to look at Dragon's hobby, which Taihei and Kintarō recognises it as mahjong, explaining that "heaven cannon" and "ground cannon" are rare hands in mahjong. Yagi notes that Dragon heard that there are mahjong pros in Japan, which is why he agreed to fight in Japan, adding that his skills earned him the nickname "Manhattan's Demon King". At Mahjong in the United States of America, after Dragon wins a game of mahjong, he mentions to his opponent how some things are not explainable with logic and one doesn't always win even if they are skilled, however, he was lucky enough to charm the goddess of good fortune. Dragon leaves the building with stacks of $100's. At the Kamogawa gym, Aoki and Kimura believes that one can't succeed with only luck, however, Takamura admits Dragon is strong. Aoki and Kimura mentions that it comes down to skill in boxing and that luck can't make up the difference. Takamura asks them who are the certain people who will never become a world champion.
