Dash is a basic boxing technique, where the boxer closes the distance between them and the opponent with a straight and fast run.

Usage

It is used by in-fighters to chase, rush, or catch opponents who retreat. This can also use to make power punches by running then launch an attack, Ippo Makunouchi is the most prominent user as he always use its method to catch up fast out- boxers, while also being able to generate his already powerful punch into a knockout shot. Ichirō Miyata mentions that Ippo's dashing speed is above world class. Takeshi Sendō is also a user of the technique by strengthening his lower body with ankle weights after realizing that Ippo's punches generating from the legs, as he uses the dash in order to keep up with Akira Shigeta. Ironically, after Ippo's new training of wearing weights during his comeback match against Antonio Guevara, Ippo is now able to dash at superhuman speed, as Miyata and Mashiba noted Ippo always had a sturdy lower body and great balance, the additional improvements are the result of difference in potential and states that Ippo's training his "big toe" resulted in Ippo being able to shift his weight faster and increased muscle made his body able to take more impact from sudden stops and starts (implied Ippo can now use the New Dempsey Roll, the version he used against Sawamura, without the drawback of his lower body). Miyata continues with noting Ippo can punch while shifting his pivot foot, making it harder to run away and also harder to counter it, ultimately making Sawamura's Dempsey Break useless.
