Details
- Title Page Character(s): Ichirō Miyata
Summary
With his pride wounded, Miyata stands back up with all the people urging him to clinch in order to survive the round. Unwilling to let him clinch, Arnie prepares to attack, but to his surprise, Miyata fires back. With only twenty seconds remaining, Miyata struggles with failed attempts at counters but is hit every time. He also takes the initiative but misses all his attacks and receives Gregory's at full power. With one second left, Miyata goes to the ground but the referee declares it a slip. Kimura theorises, Miyata no longer has much strength left due to his weight management and will not be able to recover within one minute. Mr. Sakaguchi repeatedly makes fun of Miyata's attempts at fighting back, until an annoyed Gregory threatens to fire him unless he stops making fun of his greatest challenger. Miyata is aware of the fact that he will lose the fight, but hopes to catch Gregory with a lucky punch to turn the match around. When his father notices this, he angrily tells Miyata that there are no lucky punches in boxing, only live fists of those who have trained. Understanding that he must earn the victory instead of hoping for it, Miyata leaves for the centre of the ring before the bell rings.
