Summary
The second round begins and as Ippo throws a jab, which Ponchai attempts to counter but fails. They begin an exchange in which Ippo displays the movement he has been practising, but Umezawa notices that it is not quite like the last time he did it. Ippo knows this as well and tries to imitate the move perfectly, as his opponent keeps on the offensive. All spectators are so concerned about Ippo's "bold" act to the point where even Yagi tells Kamogawa that they must make him stop before he gets hurt. Kamogawa knows this as well but remembering the confidence with which Ippo predicted a knockout, he is unable to stop him. He then tells Yagi that while he was in the hospital, Ippo surely came up with something that gives him the confidence to win the match. As Ponchai keeps attacking, Ippo is no longer throwing punches, but barely dodging with his technique trying to get it closer to the way it was when he trained. When he finally does the move right, Ippo begins to unleash punches going from left to right as he returns through the pattern of infinity he traces with his body. Both Fujii and Kamogawa recognises this move as former American world champion Jack Dempsey's Dempsey Roll.
