Summary
Teru tells Ippo that Taihei was called out by juvenile delinquents from another school to prove which group is stronger. Teru explains that after the end of summer vacation, the groups would settle it, but his school caused too many problems and had to quit, so Taihei is by himself. Teru then states the person Ippo needs to help, is Umezawa, who went to aid Taihei because he knew Ippo would get in trouble if he helped. Ippo and Teru run to their rescue, with Ippo believing that Taihei promised not to fight, because they trained. Ippo and Teru arrives, Ippo runs under the bridge and is shocked when he sees Taihei holding two delinquents and two more on the ground. Taihei expresses his gratitude at the fact that Ippo helped him defeat four out of five delinquents with his teachings. Umezawa, who is hurt from fighting, exclaims to not listen to Taihei, and prepares to fight him. Ippo tells Taihei to come with him and train, as he even brought the mitts and gloves. Taihei denies the request, saying that he doesn't need him anymore and states that he knew that Ippo would help him become strong quickly after seeing him do a dogeza. Ippo can't believe the turn of events, exclaiming Taihei is lying, as Taihei knocks the mitts out of Ippo's hands. Taihei begins to fight the last delinquent, as Ippo frantically grabs his old coach's mitts off the ground. Umezawa suggests that Ippo should give up on Taihei.
